3.9. SOCIAL MEDIA FEATURES
Our Website includes social media features, such as the Facebook Like button, and certain widgets, such as the Share button, or mini-programs running on our site. These features may collect your IP address, identify the page you are visiting on our site and set a cookie to enable them to function properly. Social media widgets and features are hosted by a third party or directly on our Website. This Privacy Policy does not apply to these features.
3.10. EXTERNAL WEBSITES
Our Website contains links to other websites. We do not control the content or practices of these other websites and cannot be held responsible for them. The inclusion of these links does not imply that we endorse these other websites, their content, their owners or their practices. This Privacy Policy does not apply to other websites, which are subject to any privacy or other policies of their owners.
3.11. BLOG
We have a publicly accessible blog (https://www.agence-copernic.fr/blog, in French). At your request, we will delete this information from the servers earlier, in accordance with the terms of the “Opt-out and unsubscribing” section below.
3.13. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER OF INFORMATION
As part of our international operations, we may transfer and access your Personal Information from anywhere in the world. This Privacy Policy applies, including when we transfer Personal Information to other countries.
4. Browsing information
4.1. COOKIES
Copernic and its partners use cookies or similar technologies to analyse trends, administer the website, track users’ movements on the website and collect socio-demographic information about our user base as a whole.
We use “cookies” to help personalise your online experience. A cookie is a text file placed on your hard drive by a web server. Cookies are not used to run programs or install viruses on your computer. They are uniquely assigned to you and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie. Cookies are mainly used to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalise pages on our Website, a cookie helps us remember your information on subsequent visits. When you return to a Website, the information you previously provided is retrieved so that you can easily use the personalised features.
You can accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually change your browser settings to decline them if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, the interactive features of the Website you are visiting may be affected. Copernic keeps a list of the pages you visit in order to determine which parts of the Website are the most popular or most used. This data is used within the Website to offer personalised promotions and content to customers whose behaviour indicates an interest in a specific area.
4.2. LOG FILES
We may collect socio-demographic information, such as your postcode, age, gender, preferences, interests and favourites, using log files that are not associated with your name or other personal information. We also automatically collect certain information about your computer hardware and software. This information may include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, internet service provider (ISP), files viewed on our site (e.g. HTML pages, images, etc.), operating system, clickstream data, access times and referring website addresses. This information is used by Copernic to maintain the quality of its services and to obtain general statistics on the use of the Website. For these purposes, we link this automatically collected data to Personal Information such as name, email address and telephone number.
4.3. CLEAR GIFS (WEB BEACONS/WEB BUGS)
We use a software technology called clear gifs (also known as web beacons or web bugs), which helps us manage the Website better by telling us which content is most effective. Clear gifs are tiny images with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, used to track the online movements of web users. Unlike cookies, which are stored on the hard drive of the user’s computer, clear gifs are embedded invisibly in web pages or emails and are no larger than the full stop at the end of this sentence. We use clear gifs in our HTML emails to identify which emails have been opened by recipients. This allows us to measure the effectiveness of certain communications and, more generally, of our marketing campaigns. We link the information collected by clear gifs in emails to our customers’ Personal Information. If you do not wish to receive these emails, see the “Opt-out and unsubscribing” section.
4.4 THIRD-PARTY TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES
The use of cookies and web beacons by tracking technology companies is not covered by our Privacy Policy.
5. Opt-out and unsubscribing
